My husband already has two Garmin GPS systems. One of the Garmin GPS systems is for our car and the other is a handheld one which we take with us when we go hiking. However both of our Garmin GPS systems are now a few years old.  While perusing the web in recent months I have noticed that Garmin GPS technology is getting better all of the time.

This particular Garmin GPS system costs quite a bit more than either of the ones my husband already owns. I decided to read the product description to find out why. What I read was mind blowing, like something out of Star Trek. Apparently the Garmin GPSMAP 478 Portable Navigator goes far beyond what an ordinary model can do.
According to the product description I read this Garmin GPS system can be used both on land and at sea. It comes with both street level mapping and US marine charts. It also has the capacity for both weather and sonar. People who own this system can even use it to listen to music, news and talk shows because it has XM satellite radio and it is easy to add extra maps and data cards.
My husband loves to hunt, fish, hike and travel so I know he would sincerely love to own the Garmin GPSMAP 478 Portable Navigator. One of these days I might surprise him with this particular Garmin GPS system, though I would have to save up for it. I would love to see his face if I presented him with a gift box and he found the Garmin GPSMAP 478 Portable Navigator inside of it when he opened it up.
