Every year during the holidays, a group of us on our street get together and buy things like an LCD HDTV, turkeys and other goodies that we give away at Christmas. Sometimes, companies will donate products for us to give away. This year since we are planning to give away an LCD HDTV and we were hoping that someone would decide to give us one, since we weren't sure that we could raise enough funds from everyone in order to purchase an LCD HDTV on our own. With the economy slowly making a rebound, we were unable to find anyone who could or would donate an LCD HDTV, so that left us with either forgetting about having an LCD HDTV this year, or with us deciding to see if we could raise some funds in order to have the LCD HDTV that we were hoping to give away this year.

What we decided to do instead was raise funds by selling doughnuts. I know, it sounds crazy, but we decided to give it a try and see where it took us. I'm glad we did! In no time we'd raised enough money to buy not one LCD HDTV but two! Now the only thing was, I needed to get online and see if I could find an LCD HDTV for the price range that would allow us to buy two. I hadn't had much luck at the local stores, and knew that the best place to find a great deal would be online, and sure enough, that was true. The people who are going to receive the televisions have no idea that they're going to get them, just like those families who will be getting the turkey’s also have no idea. It's one of my favorite things about this time of the year, being able to give to another and see a smile on their face. I also thought the price was so good on the LCD HDTV that I may actually go back and order one for my son, who could then use it to play his favorite video games.
